Fishery Information
New Platt Fisheries is one of the finest fly fishing venues in Cheshire. It is set into a peaceful, rural location near the village of Goostrey but still has quick access to the A50. New Platt Fisheries really allows anglers to enjoy the countryside and the abundance of wildlife, all while catching some beautiful trout. The owners of New Platt Fisheries stock the lake regularly, and there are brilliant catch rates as a result.
The lake is 37 acres, and there are two islands to fish to. As the lake is so large, boats are available, but the islands can be fished from the bank as well.
What size do the fish go to?
New Platt Fisheries focuses more on quantity than the size of the trout caught as all of the trout are similar sizes, with a few larger ones coming out every so often. The catch rate recently has been really good, with two fish coming out every hour.
What tactics work well?
New Platt Fisheries is available to fish 365 days a year. So, the tactics for fishing this venue vary greatly depending on what time of year you go. However, there are bailiffs on-site that have a wealth of knowledge fishing these waters, so make sure you ask them about which flies are working at the time of year you go. New Platt Fisheries also keeps its website up to date with good info about catch rates and what flies are working well.
What facilities are on site?
There is a fishing lodge on site.
Is parking available?
