Fishery Information
While visiting Summercourt in Newquay in the summer of 1987, Brian and Sandra leaned over the double wooden gates to inspect the 27-acre abandoned field. In their minds, a coarse fishery tucked away into the graceful rolling hills, enveloped by woodlands, and brimming with natural wildlife ecosystems for both plant and animal life was their ultimate goal.
Oakside was the name given to the fishery by Sandra, as there were numerous mature oaks lining the perimeter. Because of Sandra’s efforts, the Oakside Fishery logo, which has been in use since its inception, was born. As of today, their dream has come to fruition some twenty five years later with a mature, well-stocked coarse fishing lake situated in a beautiful setting surrounded by rolling hills.
Brian planned the lake from the beginning to include four islands, a variety of depths, and underwater shelves to enhance the fishing experience. All of the swims are easily accessible, whether you’re a disabled person or not. Oakside Fishery has a wide range of options for anglers of all skill levels.
What size do the fish go to?
Several of the lake’s carp are in excess of 20 pounds, and the current lake record is well over 30 pounds. There are several 10lb Tench and good-sized Bream and Roach in the lake to provide a truly mixed coarse fishing area.
What tactics work well?
Fishing rod
Barbless hook
Bait
What facilities are on site?
Disabled access
Portaloo
Is parking available?
Yes, there is plenty of parking quite close to the lake, as well as an access road track that runs alongside a portion of the lake’s bank, making it possible for less abled fishermen to reach their desired swim.
