Set in Ashford, Lincolnshire, Oham Lakes offers a fantastic day’s sport to the keen Carp angler. The venue comprises of two pools, both of which possess a variety of fishing features.
Badger Lake spans approximately 1.5 acres and is the largest of the 3 waters. Furthermore, there are long reeds and trees which give a tranquil feel to the site. The waters are well stocked with Bream, Roach, Rudd, and Carp.
Mallard Lake spans approximately 3 quarters of an acre. Additionally, there are over 20 spacious pegs, several of which are accessible to the disabled angler. Again, the water boasts a healthy stock of Bream, Chub, Rudd, Roach and Carp.
The Puddle is around half an acre in size and presents an ideal spot for the novice angler. There are no formal pegs, so anglers can choose the place that best suits them. Moreover, the waters contain a decent number of Tench, Perch, Bream and Carp.
What size do the fish go to?
Perch, Bream, Tench, Chub and Roach generally weigh between 3 and 8lbs. Carp are frequently landed in double figures, with larger fish weighing in excess of 20lbs.
What tactics work well?
Maggots and sweetcorn tend to be the most popular baits. Also, flavoured meats are recommended when trying to entice the larger carp. Additionally, utilising pellets and boilies during the warmer months is beneficial.
