Oulton Mill Pool is a large but shallow lake with a silty bed. Most fishing is done from the left bank when facing the lake from the dam wall. Fishing is also allowed from the right side, but it requires waders to reach the platforms due to steep banks, making it a trickier option.
What size do the fish go to?
Oulton Mill Pool holds a very large head of Carp, with some reaching 20lb+. Additionally, the lake features Roach, Rudd, Perch, and Pike.
What tactics work well?
For anglers looking to target larger Carp, investing more time and night fishing are viable options. Other than that, float and pole fishing techniques may work well for catching the various species present in the lake.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available on the roadside. However, anglers are kindly requested not to park in the restaurant car park or block access to the road or fields.
