Fishery Information
A short distance from Halstead, Essex, is Pebmarsh Lake.
A long-established fishery, the lake belongs to one of the oldest fishing clubs in the country, Colnes Angling Society which is more than 100 years old.
The society was formed by local villagers and is now open to any members who wish to join.
Pebmarsh Lake has been part of the portfolio of waters owned by the club since the 1970’s. It is an attractive lake in pleasant surroundings.
There are three pegs at Pebmarsh dedicated for disabled anglers. Able bodied may use them if not in use.
Several species of carp plus rudd, bream, roach and tench can be landed from the well-stocked and established lake.
There are a total of 25 pegs around the lake.
Pebmarsh Lake is located in the middle of Pebmarsh village, close to a popular and pleasant public house.
What size do the fish go to?
There are many mature carp in the lake so catches of carp in double figures are not unusual. Other species have also attained decent sizes.
What tactics work well?
The lake is fished throughout and the margins should not be ignored. Maggot, caster and bread also work well, and it is a fine lake to float fish.
What facilities are on site?
There are limited facilities on site including a toilet, there is a shop and public house in the village.
Is parking available?
There is plentiful parking at Pebmarsh Lake and visitors are asked to park on the right hand side of the car park. The lake is just a short walk away.
