Fishery Information
Featuring two pools and a whole lot of carp, Pixley Pools is situated just outside the town of Ledbury. Both pools double as irrigation lakes to supply water to neighbouring fruit fields.
The titular Pixley Pool is the first of the two. This is three acres in size. Fishing is said to be relatively straightforward, with 23 marked pegs and plenty of fish in the sea. The waters get busy on weekends, so anglers should phone ahead to ensure there are no matches afoot.
Glebe Pool doesn’t have as much vegetation in the surroundings, but the fish are certainly biting in this newer pool. The stock is almost entirely common carp, with 12 pegs on the pond. The deepest spot is 18 feet.
Day tickets can be purchased on the bank.
What size do the fish go to?
Average carp in Pixley Pool weigh in at about eight pounds, while catches in Glebe average five pounds.
What tactics work well?
Pixley Pool is best in the shallow spots on a pole with casters. Pellet works well. Fishing on the margins is best suited to a corn approach, but the fish are active and catches are likely just about anywhere in the water. The fish are particularly hungry in the summer months, so take a lot of bait.
Tactics shift a little in Glebe Pool. Anglers need a strong pole or waggler. Carp can be caught close in, but bait runner tackle yields benefits for those trying further out.
What facilities are on site?
Gates to both pools are locked with a combination. Please call the owner for more information.
Is parking available?
There is parking at Pixley Pools.
