Carp fishing is prevalent at the Poolhall fishery, found in Trescott and conveniently located just off the A454 Bridgnorth Road. Wolverhampton is only 5 miles away from the fishery.
Beautifully tucked away in the countryside, a major metropolitan area lies just minutes away. With islands, reed beds, lily pads, gravel margins, and an abundance of wildlife, this renowned old fishery was once the home of one of the largest common carp in the Midlands. Humpy reached just short of the 40-pound mark but sadly passed away in the early nineties. The fishery has two carp waters and a small pleasure pool.
The Meadow Pool spans an area of 7.5 acres and features 13 single pegs in addition to three double pegs. The lake is home to approximately 350 carp and a significant number of catfish and pike. The size of the Lower Lake is five acres, with two double pegs in addition to five single pegs. About a dozen catfish and approximately two hundred carp reside in this lake. The carp in this lake is a mix of commons and mirrors, and the commons are older than the mirrors.
A small recreational pool adequately stocked with fish from nearby carp lakes often holds unexpected specimens of every fish species. The Poolhall is primarily day ticket water that requires reservations.
What size do the fish go to?
The Meadow Pool is home to fish weighing more than 35lb, more than 100 fish in the 20-pound range and many others that are close to or have crossed the 30-pound threshold. There are catfish, six of which are over the 50lb mark and as large as 68lb, and pike that can grow up to 20lb.
The commons and mirrors of the Lower Lake have produced at least six fish weighing 30lb or more, with the largest of these fish approaching 37lb, and approximately 40 fish weighing 20lb or less, with a significant number of these fish coming close to 30lb. Also present are roughly a dozen catfish that weigh up to 50lb and pike that weigh up to 20lb.

Carp are easy prey if you fish in the right spot and use the right bait.
