Fishery Information
Located near the Leighton Buzzard bypass in Bedfordshire, Rackley Hills Lake is surrounded by woodland. This gives it a quiet, out-of-the-way feel despite being surrounded by industrial sites.
Most swims at Rackley Hills Lake are encircled by bushes and trees, adding to the privacy and providing seclusion for anglers. The water ranges in depth from two to a dozen feet
Rackley Hills is primarily concerned with carp and catfish. It also includes roach, bream, gudgeon, perch, pike, and a few tench.
This spot is owned and operated by the Leighton Buzzard Angling Club.
Night fishing is permitted for syndicate members.
What size do the fish go to?
Rackley Hills is renowned for its catfish stocks, which range up to a whopping 62 pounds. A number of catfish lie in the 40 to 50-pound range.
Carp have been caught up to 42 pounds, while a recent stock of Simmonds mirror carp ranging from four to five pounds. According to reports, those little guys have blossomed into 20 to 25-pound behemoths – quite a growth rate for Rackley Hills Lake.
What tactics work well?
Anglers can use up to three rods at Rackley Hills. There are no bait bans or tackle limits here, but the Club requests a 15-pound line for catching catfish. 50-inch landing nets and a large-sized unhooking mat are required.
Is parking available?
Parking is available on location. Anglers are to park along one side of the lake and walk to their respective swims, so be prepared. Parking is not permitted near the Grundfos Pumps, as some have been known to block the gates.
