One of London’s best-kept gems, Regents Canal offers excellent urban fishing experience for anglers. For peaceful fishing, head for the stretch between Hackney and Haggerstone.

Standard canal tactics work well here. Light tackle is needed as the weather cools and the water becomes very clear. Float fishing or light ledger and making use of the features (such as moored boats) also work well. Perch respond well to small spinners and shallow diving plugs and lures help in catching pike.
Popular baits include maggots, worms, bread, sweet corn, hemp and bloodworm.
