Rib Valley Fishing Lakes is in Ware, Hertfordshire. There are three lakes at this complex offering different types of fishing. Rib Lake is the main carp lake with some stunning carp. Westmill lake has some great carp and offers some lovely match style fishing. Millennium Lake is a five-acre fly fishing lake, but you can use any method to fish it if you wish.
What size do the fish go to?
Rib lake holds carp to 30lbs plus. There are plenty of other species to fish for too. There are tench to 8lbs, Pike to 25lbs, perch to 3lbs and roach to 2lbs.
Westmill Lake is a mixed bag but has tench to 9lb, bream to 6lb, perch to 3lbs and some double figure carp as well.
There are also a few smaller ponds for beginners that hold a mixed bag of fish to a few pounds.
What tactics work well?
If you are going to Rib Valley for the first time, use a tactic that you know and trust. The carp respond well to a lot of tactics, but bright bottom baits are popular. Rib Lake is a very open water, so finding a patch of clear ground in the middle is ideal. Westmill Lakes is fished mainly by pole anglers, but float fishing and bottom fishing also works well here too.

There is a good tackle shop just nearby that stocks everything you need to fish this amazing complex.
