Fishery Information
Most river anglers already know everything there is to know about this river. It is well known for its big barbel and chub, but there is plenty more fish in this river than that.
If you’ve never tried river fishing, or you want a break from going after carp, this is the ideal river to fish. There are so many species to catch, many of which are massive too.
What size do the fish go to?
It’s hard to say. As these are river fish, they are always on the move. However, this stretch of river has produced very good barbel and chub over the years. There are also some beautiful bream, pike, roach, perch and eels. In the winter, the pike can be very big indeed. Sadly, the fishing club hasn’t got many details on weights currently.
What tactics work well?
As these are river fish, you are certainly in for a fight, no matter how big the fish you are targeting go to. These are strong fish, so you need fairly strong tackle. A good method for river fishing has always been a closed feeder. Barbel love closed feeders, but so do many other fish species.
What facilities are on site?
While there’s no facilities directly on the river, the town is very close to it. So shops and refreshments aren’t too far away.
Is parking available?
Parking is available close to the river in several public car parks.
