Fishery Information
Rood Ashton Lake is just outside Trowbridge in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. It is a mature 7-acre lake that is available for matches. This is a large lake, but it is nice and shallow, so it’s perfect for waggler or pole fishing. The lake is about 18 inches deep throughout, so bottom feeding is also a great option here. And there is plenty to catch too. There are good-sized carp in this lake, tench, bream, roach rudd and some good quality perch as well.
What size do the fish go to?
There are 40lb carp swimming around in this lake. There are a few 30lb carp, too, and 20s are caught fairly regularly. There are plenty of double-figure carp and some monster bream and tench too. The roach and rudd can also add up to a huge weight in a match. Fishing for these can make a massive difference to your overall weight.
What tactics work well?
Match tactics are the go-to on this venue. You can’t use boilies here, so instead, many anglers opt for using pellets and these work fantastically. 8mm pellets on a band and 2mm pellets on your feeder can give you the edge. Corn and maggots also work really well here and shouldn’t be ignored if you are pole or waggler fishing.
What facilities are on site?
There are no facilities on this lake at the moment.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available at the lake, but some pegs are a fair distance from the car park.
