The Rook Hall North Reservoir is noted for its variety. Featuring three different bodies of water fed by the same stream, there are options aplenty for anglers of all types.
The closest pond to the water park features a host of bays and spits. It is stocked with tench, roach, bream, perch, rudd, crucian, and the odd carp.
The smaller pond in the centre of Rook Hall North Reservoir contains carp and silverfish. Many note this pond in particular for its attractive colour and setting, which can really make an angler’s day on account of its sheer beauty.
The pond furthest from the car park is home to plenty of bream, rudd, and some significant carp.
The Maldon Angling Society oversees the Rook Hall North Reservoir and administers tickets and permits. The facility closes down for the duck hunting season, so take care when scheduling swims and watch your calendar.
What size do the fish go to?
Bream up to seven pounds have been fished out of the closest lake at Rook Hall North Reservoir. Some swear by catching bags of tench, some of which range up to six pounds or more.
The back lake has been known to feature bream up to seven pounds and top-tier head of carp in the double-digits range.
What tactics work well?
Anglers can use three rods during night fishing outings on Rook Hall Reservoir, but night fishing permits are required ahead of time.
