Fishery Information
Roundwood Ponds is in Rotherham. There are two ponds to fish at this venue, the big pond and the small pond. Big pond is where the larger carp hang out, but it is often overfished, so it can be hard to get peg and even harder to catch one of the bigger carp. If you’re new to fishing, or you just want to relax and catch some beauties, the small pond is a real gem. There is still plenty of carp and other fish to catch in this lake, but it is hardly ever fished, so it is quite easy to get a quick bite.
What size do the fish go to?
The big pond at Roundwood Ponds holds carp to over 30lbs. The small pond has carp to about 20lbs, with double-figure carp being present in both lakes. There are also skimmers, bream, tench, roach, rudd and perch to catch. Both lakes also have pike to good sizes too.
What tactics work well?
The fishing on these ponds can be a little touch and go, especially on the big pond. Method feeding or PVA bags can be a very option for both lakes. Concentrating your bait on a tight area means the fish cannot feed without taking your bait. Pole fishing is also really popular here, and you can get good weights on both lakes in a single session.
What facilities are on site?
There are currently no facilities at Roundwood Ponds, but the pegs have solid ground, so some disabled access is possible.
Is parking available?
Parking is available close to the lakes.
