Fishery Information

Rowfant Mill Lake is a beautiful 7-acre lake controlled and operated by Copthorne and District Angling Society. It is the largest lake that the fishing club has on its books. They describe the lake as a ‘typical Sussex Millpond’. It is silty and has depths of 4-6ft throughout the lake. Rowfant Mill is a mixed fishery with plenty of species to catch. So, while some anglers go to the lake exclusively looking for carp, many are targeting other species.

What size do the fish go to?

The carp in this lake go to about 20lbs. There aren’t a lot of big carp in this lake, though. There are pike to double figures. There are also bream and tench to 6lbs, as well some good-sized perch.

What tactics work well?

The lake has quite a lot of lily pads around it, as well as some reed beds. These are good places to fish, but there are also overhangs around most of the lake too. If you’re fishing for pike, the overhangs are often a good place to start as the larger pike will use them for cover. If you’re going for the larger tench or carp, the lily pads are a good option. Method feeding or PVA bags can allow you to get closer to these snags, but you’ll have to be quick on the reel when you get a bite.

What facilities are on site?

There are no facilities at this lake at the moment.

Is parking available?

Parking is available close to the lake.
