Fishery Information
Scaling Dam is a beautiful fishing venue with loads of fishing on offer. Scaling Dam is aimed at anglers of all levels, and there are thousands of fish to catch. During your time at Scaling Dam, you can catch carp, bream, tench, roach, rudd, pike, perch and more. Whether you’re a match angler or carp angler, there is a fish that you’ll want in your net here. Scaling Dam is a reservoir, and it is 105 acres in size. While this venue is huge, there is plenty of fish in the water, so there is a very good chance of catching here. There are also rangers on-site that offer advice to any anglers that haven’t fished the reservoir before.
What size do the fish go to?
Scaling Dam is geared towards coarse fishing and pike fishing. The pike in this reservoir can go to over 30lbs, with bigger pike being reported each year. There is also plenty of big bream, roach, rudd, perch and even some big carp in this reservoir too.
What tactics work well?
The pike respond well to lure fishing at Scaling Dam, but dead baits also work very well here. The coarse fish roam the lake in big shoals, so baiting a nice-sized area is a good idea. Once you’re on the fish, keep your hook in the water as much as possible. If you catch one, chances are there are hundreds more to catch.
What facilities are on site?
Scaling Dam is accessible for disabled anglers. There is a platform designed for disabled anglers to fish from. There is also a lodge shop that offers tackle and bait as well as a visitors centre with toilets and tea and coffee.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available. Parking is also available close to the disabled peg.
