Located next to the DW stadium, Wigan, Scot Lane New Pond is a quaint setting that offers excellent sport to both the beginner and more seasoned angler. There are a total of 60 pegs available, several of which are accessible to the disabled.
The pond has an average depth of 6-8ft and is nicknamed the “figure of 8” due to its shape. Furthermore, the waters are home to a healthy selection of Bream, Tench, Perch, Rudd and Carp.
Day tickets can be purchased from the bank, with adults costing only £3.
What size do the fish go to?
Bream, Tench, Perch and Rudd tend to weigh between 2-7lbs. Carp are commonly brought in in double figures, with larger fish reaching 20lbs.
What tactics work well?
Fishing on the pole tend to work extremely well. Also, using a feeder with worms or sweetcorn seems to help entice the larger fish. Halibut pellets on a hair rig are also extremely popular.
What facilities are on site?
Clean and accessible toilet facilities are open to visitors.
Is parking available?
Safe and secure spaces are available in the carp park directly adjacent to the water.
