Fishery Information

The Sharnfold Farm Fishery is one of three artificial lakes  dug out in 1995.  Located in East Sussex,  The water from the two other lakes is used for irrigation and other conservation-related purposes. Located in East Sussex, the doughnut-shaped Sharnfold Farm Lake is a beautiful lake that spans 2 acres and it is surrounded on all sides by farmland and natural reserve land. Approximately 20 low grassy banked swims are dispersed throughout the lake and  positioned evenly in between the reed beds. The depths of the lakes range from 6 to 8 feet on average.

A reeded island in the middle of Sharnfold Lake is the most prominent feature that sets it apart from other lakes. The lake is home to a wide variety of match fish, including some stunning specimens of tench, bream, barbell, chub, and roach, as well as rudd. In addition, the lake is home to a few juvenile eels and perch of respectable size. There are no carp found anywhere on the Sharnfold Farm Match Fishery grounds.

What size do the fish go to?

Specimen tench to over 6lb, bream to 3lb, barbell to 8lb, chub to 4lb, roach and rudd to over 1lb, perch to 4lb

What tactics work well?

Maggots, casters, and worms are all effective baits to use in this body of water.

What facilities are on site?

The visitor will find a wide variety of activities and facilities available to them at Sharnfold Farm. These include a farm shop, a small play park, country trails, recreational crafts, a multitude of farm animals, and a large selection of fruit picking options.
