Fishery Information
Located near Southend-on-Sea in Essex, Shoebury Park Lake was once a sand excavation pit. Like many fishing spots, the history of the place makes its modern appearance a small miracle. Shoebury Park Lake is no different, with its purpose-built swims and its robust stock.
The local park feel can make for an interesting day out at Shoebury, especially as reports suggest that nearby residents have dropped more than a few former pet fish into the water. That has made for a few interesting catch stories and more than a few laughs.
Shoebury Park Lake boasts a good dose of carp, tench, roach, rudd, and perch.
Day tickets have been on offer at Shoebury Park Lake, with passes essentially dished out by a bailiff on the site. The environment is exceptionally casual, so putting in a relaxing day at the lake is never a problem.

There are four carp in Shoebury ranging up to 20 pounds. A mirror once rolled in upwards of 25 pounds, while the rest of the stock is of top-tier quality and size between a 12 and 13 pounds.
Tench have produced results in the seven pound area, while crucians were caught clocking in at two pounds.
What tactics work well?
Numerous reports suggest fishing Shoebury is far from easy and landing a good catch is far from a shoe-in. Some recommendations have unorthodox baits taking the cake here, with anglers using breadpunch, tares, and hemp to snag the big ones.
Carp and tench are usually caught well enough using standard approaches and standard bait, while sink and draw is the way to go with this lake’s pike.
What facilities are on site?
There are toilets on site, but there are no refreshments.
Is parking available?
Parking is available at Shoebury Lake.
