Fishery Information
This fishery is run by Derby Railway Angling Club.
The Silt Pool is a well-established water that was formerly part of the washery of an adjacent aggregate site. It is known for its abundance of silver fish, including a large head of tench and bream, as well as a small number of carp. The lake also holds pike and perch.
What size do the fish go to?
The carp in the Silt Pool range from mid doubles to low 30s. The tench and bream can reach good sizes, providing exciting catches for anglers.
What tactics work well?
Tench can be caught from the margins of most pegs and in the shallower areas of the lake near the carpark. When targeting carp, it is important to locate them first as their numbers are relatively low. Simple rigs with popped up hookbaits can be effective. Consider using rig tubing instead of a leader such as leadcore when fishing in snaggy areas to minimize the risk of a fish becoming tethered.
What facilities are on site?
Specific facilities at the fishery may be limited. Anglers should come prepared with their own fishing equipment and supplies.
Is parking available?
Yes, there is parking available near the Silt Pool. Anglers can access the fishing area conveniently from the South and Eastern banks.
