Fishery Information

Situated on the Bolebroke Castle estate, Sussex, Silver birch lakes is a stunning mixed fishery that offers excellent sport to both the novice and more seasoned angler. The castle building was established in 1480 and is known as the earliest brick-built building in Sussex. The nearby village of Hartfield is famous for being the setting of Pooh bear.

This famous site is also rumoured to have been used by Henry the VIII when he would go hunting for Venison and Wild Boar. The 3-acre lake is healthily stocked with Carp, Roach, Bream, Tench, Chub, Koi and Perch. The site is open for day ticket anglers as well as long term members.

What size do the fish go to?

The average size of Carp ranges between 20 lbs and 30 lbs. Large nets of Bream and Tench have also been taken in the 80lb region.

What tactics work well?

Using the feeder with sweetcorn or worms has proven to be effective for larger carp. During the warmer months, Pellets and boilies tend to work well.
