Fishery Information
Located in the Derbyshire town of Kirk Hallam, Sowbrook Lake is a popular recreational destination. It is a member of the Nottingham Anglers Association, which is one of the largest fishing clubs in the Midlands with a membership of little over 2400 anglers.
The lake was set up in 2001 by refurbishing an old quarry that was too deep to support a large number of fish nets. Because of the lower depth, the lake is now home to a variety of fish species, the most common of which is carp, as well as roach, bream, and tench.
Carp are the most common fish in the lake. Night fishing is permitted on the lake, and its facilities, such as parking, are accessible to anglers with disabilities.
