Fishery Information
Fishing on this tranquil river begins at the Anchor Pub in Nayland. The area for fishing is about five miles long. This is a large area for fishing, and it does hold a lot of promise if you can get on the fish. Many years ago, the river was stocked heavily with all kinds of specimens, including dace, chub, pike, carp, perch, roach, rudd and barbel.
What size do the fish go to?
The most exciting thing about this river is the unknown. You see, the fish stock was added many years ago by the fishing society that operates it now. However, the fishing society had to abandon the water some years ago, and it has only recently been purchased again. As the river hasn’t been fished in a good few years, no one is really sure if the fish are still there. If they are, then the fishing could be absolutely incredible. Some of the best river fishing in Suffolk!
What tactics work well?
Again, no one really knows which tactics work well on this river because no one has fished it for some time. However, if the fish are still here, they will have been feeding on natural baits for a very long time. So, matching the natural is a brilliant choice. Closed feeders and float fishing are good options too.
What facilities are on site?
None, but there are cafes and pubs in the local village.
Is parking available?
There are public car parks close to the river.
