Fishery Information
Swan Pit is located between Newport and Gnosall on the A518. It is around 3.5 acres and is inhabited by a healthy population of carp, bream, roach, and rudd. Additionally, there is a good head of perch, as well as some tench and crucians, but these species are not caught very frequently.
There are 25 fishable pegs, and the depth of the water ranges from 3.5 feet on the roadside bank to only 16-18 inches at pegs 20 & 21. Peg 21 frequently generates the winning weights for competitions.
The majority of match pegs are equipped with an island chuck for the feeder. The island is out of bounds on the far bank (pegs 21-24) during matches.
This body of water does not facilitate day tickets, and children under the age of 16 are welcome to participate in any and all fishing competitions provided they have an adult accompanying them.
