Location: Tal-y-llyn Lake (aka Llyn Mywngil) is a 220 acre ribbon lake situated north-east of Tywyn and north of Machynlleth at the foot of Cadair Idris in Southern Snowdonia. It is at the head of Afon Dysynni, a river only 8 miles long and entering the sea at Tywyn.

Description: Tal-y-llyn Lake offers superb wild brown trout fishing from the bank, as boat fishing is no longer available at the site. With an average depth of only 8ft, floating lines can be used from the outset. The lake has a good head of wild brown trout from 8oz to 4lb, and fish average 12oz to 1lb. It is no longer stocked, but the glacial lake is fed by clear mountain water from the nearby heights. It is quite weedy in summer, so anglers should bear this in mind.

The fishing season runs from March 20th to October 17th, and in the later part of the season, sea trout and salmon sometimes run up the river Dysynni into Tal-y-Llyn. This makes it an excellent choice for anglers looking for wild brown trout fishing or a unique fishing holiday destination.
