Fishery Information
This fishery is run by The Tonbridge Angling Club & Fish Preservation Society.
The New Lagoon was created during the winter of 2015. The Society turned the Old Lagoon, which was in a sad looking state and had only a couple of fishable swims, into an independent pleasure fishery. It now offers approximately 16 swims, providing members with the opportunity to catch a variety of fish species, including Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Crucians, Perch, and Barbel. The average depth in the original Lagoon area is 3-4ft, while the newly dug area has depths exceeding 6ft.
What size do the fish go to?
The New Lagoon is stocked with a good mixture and balance of fish species. There are small pretty Carp reaching up to 5lb, Tench exceeding 8lb, Bream up to 10lb, Roach and Rudd up to 2lb+, Crucians up to 3lb+, Perch up to 2lb+, and a few Barbel reaching 4lb+. Recent catches have included Roach weighing up to 2lb 12oz, Rudd up to 3lb 2oz, Carp up to 14lb, and Tench up to 8lb 8oz.
What tactics work well?
Various tactics can be effective at The New Lagoon. For Carp, anglers may use a mixture of baits such as boilies, pellets, or sweetcorn, along with rigs like the hair rig. Tench and Bream respond well to maggot or worm baits presented on the float or feeder rigs. Roach and Rudd can be caught using small hooks and baits like maggots or casters. Crucians and Perch can be targeted using similar tactics. The occasional Barbel may also be caught using appropriate tackle and baits.
What facilities are on site?
The New Lagoon offers approximately 16 swims, providing ample fishing opportunities for members. Anglers can find suitable places to set up their equipment and enjoy their day by the water. Juniors are allowed to fish this water if accompanied by an adult at all times. The fishery management will provide a list of rules, which will be displayed on the new signage at the entrance to the Lagoon.
Is parking available?
Yes, there is parking available at The New Lagoon. Anglers can conveniently park their vehicles at the fishery site, making it easy to access the fishing area and transport their fishing gear.
