The Wilderness lake is about 4 acres in size and went through some major work of de-silting, bank restoration and the provision of 25 purpose built platforms giving access to able and disabled anglers. Depths range from 1-4ft in the deeper areas. The lake has a good mixture of course fish including bream, tench, roach, eels and the odd carp which are great fun on course tackle. There is serious sport with the bream in the summer which have been caught up to 7lb. It’s very shallow in general but this does not seem to affect the fishing at any time of year. The bream and roach respond well to bread punch, but can also be caught on caster, maggot or sweet corn. There are some carp in the lake, but these are rarely caught unless fished for.
