Fishery Information

Tunstall Reservoir is a 66-acre colored water reservoir situated in the wooded valley of Waskerley Beck, run by Northumbrian Water. The reservoir features deep water and is home to both stocked Rainbow trout and wild Brown trout.

What size do the fish go to?

The fish at Tunstall Reservoir can grow quite large, with the best Brown trout caught last year weighing in at 9 lbs.

What tactics work well?

Popular tactics for fishing here include using traditional wet flies, lures, tadpoles, hoppers, and small black terrestrial flies native to the area.

What facilities are on site?

A wooden lodge is available on site for the comfort and convenience of anglers. Boats can be rented for £10 a day, and anglers must supply their own electric motor.

Is parking available?

Please note that Tunstall Reservoir is only accessible to members of the Tunstall Fly Fishers club. The club has a waiting list and a limited membership of 200 people, with a seasonal fee of £100. Additionally, during the warmer months, club members enjoy organizing mini competitions on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
