Fishery Information
Located between Crowborough and Uckfield, Underhill Lake sizes in at one acre and looks like a natural wonderland.
This little spot has many features, including reeds, overhanging trees, lilies, and weed patches.
Overseen by the Crowborough and District Anglers Association, this spot is for members and their guests only. The club has made recent changes to the grounds at Underhill Lake, improving things by cutting back many of the weeds and ensuring quality standards.
Noted in particular for top-tier tench fishing, Underhill Lake also packs a good amount of perch, roach, and rudd.
What size do the fish go to?
Mirror and common carp in Underhill Lake can range up to 13 pounds. Tench clock in at just over four pounds, while perch of about three pounds and three ounces have been hauled in.
Eels of about two pounds and a dozen ounces have been spotted.
Rudd of 14 ounces fill the lake, along with spots of one-pound roach for variety.
What tactics work well?
General tactics seem to work well at Underhill Park, but users must ensure they consult the Crowborough and District Anglers Association handbook for specific information.
Be aware that the water is closed between March 15 and May 31 inclusive.
What facilities are on site?
Information on facilities at Underhill Lake is scarce, but it should be noted this spot hosts a summer series of junior fishing matches.
Is parking available?
Parking is available when conditions are dry. In wet weather, guests can park by the side of the road.
