Set in picturesque surroundings a stone’s throw away from the fabled River Test, Vale Farm Fishery comprises 3 well-stocked commercial lakes that are perfect for both novice and seasoned carp hunters. The lakes are well-stocked with common and mirror carp to 30 lbs. as well as bream, perch, roach, rudd and tench. This venue is a great choice if you are looking for a fishery with a relaxed atmosphere.

Lakes 1, 2 and 3 now have equal quantities and sizes of fish. However, there was a time when Lake 1 was mainly for smaller fish, Lake 2 was the overstocked lake and Lake 3 was mainly used as a pleasure lake. All three lakes have many features and nearly all swims have a good margin feature. Please note that boilies are not allowed on this fishery.

Common and mirror carp present in the lakes go up to 30 lbs..

What tactics work well?

Keep bait going into the margins even if you are not fishing on them at the time to try and build the swim. Please note that there is an edge that runs around the lakes and the island to around 2 feet, which can be a real hot spot in the warmer months.

In Lake 2, fishing with a feeder stuffed with pellet with a small pellet on the hook tight to the island or just out in open water scores well for most species. Try changing the hook bait every now and then to encourage more bites. Corn, maggot and worm all work really well. If you are after the carp, fishing with a solid PVA bag set up, tight with 4-millimetre Halibut pellet with a 12-millimetre Halibut pellet on the hair would work well.
