Weirwood Reservoir is a beautiful water that has been available for fishing since December 2015. The reservoir offers a variety of fishing experiences, with depths reaching up to 30ft when full. Anglers can enjoy slider fishing from boats and feeder fishing from the banks, making it suitable for different fishing techniques.

What size do the fish go to?

Weirwood Reservoir boasts a diverse range of fish species. Anglers can find very large wild Carp that put up a strong fight similar to Catfish. Recently, Carp have been stocked at C3 size and are already being caught in double figures. Bream up to 10lb+ with some specimens reported to weigh 16lb, quality Roach and Hybrids, and Perch weighing over 5lb, with club members catching specimens up to 3lb 6oz. Additionally, there are good-sized Pike in the reservoir, with witnessed specimens reaching 29lb+ from both boats and the bank.

What tactics work well?

Weirwood Reservoir offers great opportunities for slider fishing from boats and feeder fishing from the banks. For Carp, various techniques such as using boilies, pellets, or natural baits can be effective. Bream and Roach may respond well to traditional float fishing methods with maggots or casters. When targeting Pike, anglers can use lures, deadbaits, or livebaits, depending on their preference and local regulations.

What facilities are on site?

Weirwood Reservoir provides several facilities to enhance the fishing experience. There are on-site toilets for anglers’ convenience. Additionally, a ferry service is available for anglers and tackle at a cost of £5 per person. The reservoir also offers car parking options, with spaces available in the main car park by the south bank or by south water on the north bank.
