Fishery Information
Windmill Pond is part of the Hull and District Angler’s Association, and it is a very popular venue among the members. It is an old brick pit of a good size, and there are plenty of good-sized fish to be caught too. This lake does have more strict rules than other fishing venues in the area. This is because this lake is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This means that the club can’t stock it in the usual way, so the fishing is nice and varied. 75 fast-growing, premium carp were introduced into the lake in spring 2016, though. Some of these are now massive.
What size do the fish go to?
The HDAA doesn’t give too much away about the weight of the fish in their lakes. We know the 75 carp they added were a quality, fast-growing strain, so it is likely these are into double figures or more by now. There are also some beautiful tench to catch and some massive eels too. There are also some rudd and perch to nice numbers as well.
What tactics work well?
There are loads of reed beds on this lake that are well worth exploring. Using a method feeder is a good idea as you can fish close to the reed beds without getting caught on them. You need to be quick on the rod, though. These carp fight hard and will get in the reeds quickly. Pellet, corn and maggots are good options here.
What facilities are on site?
None yet, but the HDAA is always improving their waters.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available.
