Worsborough Reservoir is heavily fished by match anglers, and there are plenty of matches throughout the year on this water, with good weights being caught all the time. While most of the fish in this lake are small, there are plenty of them, so most anglers can build a good weight over a session. This also means that Worsborough Reservoir is an ideal venue to learn how to fish and gain the key tricks to building a successful session on a large water.
What size do the fish go to?
There are carp in Worsborough Reservoir, but they only grow to about 5lbs. There are also bream to 3lbs and roach to 2lbs. There are also skimmers and rudd in the lake, and the occasional eel makes themselves known too.
What tactics work well?
A good bed of groundbait at the start of your session can see you catching all day. Keep your groundbait topped up regularly, though. Fishing with maggots or corn usually produces the best weights. A closed feeder is a good option if you want to target the largest fish in Worsborough Reservoir. Fishing at range isn’t needed here. Most of the fish caught at Worsborough Reservoir come from about 4 metres out. So, creating a good bed of bait is nice and simple.
