Fishery Information
Owned and managed by Rayleigh Fishing Club – a small club with a few lakes within 5 miles of Rayleigh, Essex – Wrights Nursery Lake occupies a pleasant spot in an easy to reach location.
The lake was originally a reservoir for Wrights Nurseries, and was apparently dug by Italian prisoners of war during World War 2.
The facility is now an established fishery with a good head of carp in the lake.
The lake is also home to many good-sized bream, some roach, and there are also chub in the water that are a fairly recent stock.
Although Wrights is owned by the club day tickets can be purchased. These must be booked 24 hours in advance via a phone line on the club website.
Wrights is used regularly for matches so visitors must check in advance as per the availability of the lake.
Note that Rayleigh Fishing Club has a full set of rules that must be adhered to which are clearly outlined on the website.

There are many mature carp in the lake reaching up 15lbs. Chub, roach and bream are frequent catches.
