Fishery Information

Wyver Lane Pond is a small 2-acre pond run by Belper Angling Club.

No day tickets are available here as its members only. This means you are pretty much guaranteed a lovely quiet days fishing and the lake will never get overcrowded, even during the summer months.

There are plenty of features on this lake such as reed beds, lily pads and overhanging trees. The fish love to hang out near these.

The good news is, night fishing is allowed at this lake but check with the club on this as you will need a special permit to night fish.

It really is a mixed fishery with something for all anglers. Match men come here to practice, pleasure fishermen come here for a quiet day out and the carp lads come here to catch the specimen carp.

Fish species that can be caught include:

  • Carp to 23lb
  • Tench to 8lb
  • Bream to 6lb
  • Roach
  • Perch
  • Dace
  • Barbel
  • Pike
  • Ruffe
  • Ide

The carp here fall to all methods, with floating baits accounting for numbers of fish throughout the spring and summer. There are a number of known carp weighing around or above the 20lb mark, so the rewards are there for anglers wishing to target specimen fish.

In 2020 the lake had some big carp to 20lb stocked. This was due to them losing some fish to otters. Because of that, the lake now has an otter fence all the way around.

What size do the fish go to?

  • Carp to 23lb

What tactics work well?

In the summer month, it’s recommended to try floating baits to catch the big carp as this is likely to give you the best results.

However, just basic pole fishing or ledger fishing can bring great results with large bream and tench being commonly caught here.
